Today I am reviewing the book As She Fades by Abbi Glines. I got this book from NetGalley and Feiwel Friends for my honest review. If you don’t know, this book is about a girl who gets into a car accident with her boyfriend of 12 years and he ends up in a coma. She has to make the choices about whether she is going to stay and wait for his to wake up or continue living her life. While she’s at the hospital, she ends up meeting one of her brother’s frat brothers, who may be more than he seems. This is a New Adult contemporary romance book.
I really enjoyed this book. I can see why people are going to have issues with it, though. There were a lot of things in this book that would have come off as problematic to a lot of people. That being said, they didn’t bother me. The romance in this book was adorable and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
By the end, I couldn’t get enough. I watched the percentage getting closer to 100 and I could feel myself getting angry about it being over. I want so much more from this couple and I loved reading their story. These two are definitely a ship that I would sail with for years to come.
I really enjoyed watching the growth in all of the characters, especially our main character, Vale. She starts out just like a lot of high school girls in love seem to be. Everything is about her boyfriend, Crawford. He’s always on her mind and she can’t live without him. She grows into such an independent woman and I love that. This wasn’t just a cute romance, even though it really was a cute romance that I can’t get enough of. There was a deeper message to this.
I had skimmed some reviews and saw there was a plot twist in there. I was trying to figure out what it was the entire time but holy crap I didn’t see that coming. I was reading that part when my husband was playing his game before work. I legit sat there yelling “What?!” I couldn’t believe the turn it decided to take.
So in summary, I really enjoyed this book. It did seem rushed at points and could be viewed as problematic, but I still loved it. I definitely want to read more Abbi Glines at this point. I will provide the GoodReads, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble links. If you don’t want to buy from any of those sites, there should be more links on the GoodReads.
Thanks so much for reading. Let me know if you are looking forward to this book! Also, make sure to check out my social media (linked down below) and follow my blog for more reviews!
