Recommend: Anyone who is interested in magical realism (even though I wasn’t too sure about the genre, I know it’s fantasy). I’ve heard if you liked Night Circus, you’ll like this.

“Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything.”

I ended up buddy reading this book with April from April’s Book Nook!
I went into this book with very low expectations. I’ve only really heard that people didn’t like this book or that it was okay. I absolutely loved it. I didn’t give it 5 stars because it could have been better, but I still loved it! I spent the entire time guessing what was going to happen and a lot of my guesses were wrong! I’m usually pretty good at guessing, but this time, I wasn’t!
I loved all of the characters (even though I found Scarlett to be a bit annoying at times). The love between the sisters was fantastic. They both cared so much about each other and that just made me love them even more. Trying to figure out what role each person played in the game and what was going on made things so interesting for me. I loved every bit of it.
The pacing in this book was great to me. I felt like there was always something going on. Scarlett was always trying to figure out what was going on, where her sister was, what each clue meant. Whenever the sun was down, they were always on the move.
I do recommend this book, but I also recommend to not go into it with your hopes too high. I thoroughly enjoyed it but that doesn’t mean that it’s for everyone. It was a strange but interesting read for me.

I thank April for reading this with me and pushing me to finally pick it up. I look forward to reading the sequel to this and I also look forward to buddy reading another book with you soon!

Thank you to OwlCrate for including this book in your box! I hope to get to more books you have sent out fairly soon!
And lastly, thank you to all of you guys who follow me and read my posts. I know I’m not the most interesting blogger, but I am eternally grateful for your continued support and love!

Happy Reading!

  1. Krista: I’m so glad you enjoyed this book! I read it back in February and absolutely loved it! I was looking for reviews for the book to read other people’s thoughts, and soooo many people did not like this book. I guess it’s not for everyone, but I definitely enjoyed it! I too found myself being wrong every time I guessed something! Great review! 😆
